Fulton County, Georgia Sheriff's Office
Captain Aprille Moore has more than 15 years of law enforcement experience and currently serves as the Unit Commander for the Community Engagement Unit of the Fulton County Sheriff’s Office under the leadership of Sheriff Patrick Labat.
Prior to her current role, she was assigned as a Training Coordinator at the Fulton County Public Safety Training Center for six years, three of which she served as the Chief Training Coordinator. Her law enforcement background is also augmented by her training as a Registered Neutral with the Georgia Supreme Court Commission on Dispute Resolution. She leverages these skills with a goal of improving police-citizen encounters.
She earned her Master of Public Administration from Troy University and her Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice from Georgia State University.
Captain Moore is an alumnus of LEAD Atlanta, United Way Volunteer Involvement Program, New Leaders Council, Project Understanding, as well as an inductee of Outstanding Atlanta. In 2021, she was named as the youthSpark Community Ambassador of the Year and Atlanta Business Chronicle 40 Under Forty. She is the recipient of the Junior League of DeKalb County 2020 Spirit of the League Award, 2021 Chandani Algeo Shining Star Award and the 2022 Association of Junior Leagues International Rising Star Award. She was also recently named as a 40 Under 40 award recipient by her alma mater, Georgia State University, and the International Association of Chiefs of Police.
During her personal time, Aprille serves as a Community Ambassador for youthSpark providing prevention and awareness training to members of the community on youth exploitation and abuse. She is also an Ambassador for the Black Girls RUN! Atlanta Chapter, where she leads weekly group runs and serves as a liaison between the CEO and more than 21,000 women seeking to overcome negative health outcomes. She is an active member of the Junior League of DeKalb County, Inc., Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., Jack and Jill of America, Inc. and the National Coalition of 100 Black Women, Inc.
As a woman in law enforcement, she recognizes her role is more pivotal than ever. She prides herself on being able to bring a unique perspective to the profession through not only advocating for progressive thought amongst her peers, but also fostering community connections that build trust. Born and raised in Decatur, GA, Aprille loves being a mother to her two sons, running marathons, watching sports, reading books, cooking, and painting.
